ITANAGAR, Jan 28: Mige Kamki, an APCS officer (Admin Grade) has joined as the new Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex today relieving present DC Sanjay Goel.
A small farewell function was organized in honour of the outgoing DC at his office today.
While appreciating the outgoing DC as the longest serving DC of Itanagar, Kamki lauded him for his efficiency in serving the people and maintaining peace and law and order in the Capital Complex and hoped that he will be able to carry forward the legacy set by him. He further asked all the officials and staffs to work together as a team for the welfare of the state. Kamki was earlier serving the state as the Joint Secretary (Power).

Meeting for preparedness of Lok Sabha election held

ITANAGAR, Jan 28: AdiSU in a letter addressed to deputy commissioners of East, West and Upper Siang districts said that it has decided to halt the proposed bandh call temporarily which was declared against public hearing of 2700 MW LSHEP on January 31. The decision was taken after APSPCB’s notification for postponement of the proposed public hearing scheduled on the same day. LAS seeks monitoring of judicial set up in state
ITANAGAR, Jan 28: The Arunachal Pradesh Legal Aid Society has sought monitoring of judicial set up in the state.
In its letter submitted to the chief secretary, GoAP and secretary, Law and Judiciary, it said the present system of MACT in the state is comprised of five judges, namely, district & session judge Tezu, District & Session Judge Yupia, Additional District & Session Judge Basar, Additional District & Session Judge Pasighat and Additional District & Session Judge, Bomdila as tribunal members. GoAP has not issued notification regarding the territorial jurisdiction of these tribunal members. Eventually, motor accident claimants of the District where these tribunals are located have nowhere to file their MACT cases. Also large numbers of MACT cases are pending in the office of DCs who were tribunal members once upon a time when judiciary was vested in executives.
GoAP is requested to reschedule the conduct circuit courts by existing judges of the state so as to cater a uniform judicial service in all the districts of the state, it added in the letter.

State committed to provide quality maternal health care
ITANAGAR, Jan 28: State NRHM Mission Director P N Thungon today said that the state is committed to deliver quality health services in relating to maternal health. Addressing the state level task force meeting for Maternal Death Review (MDR) at Banquet Hall here today, Thungon said (MDR is an important strategy to improve the quality of obstetric care and reduce maternal mortality and morbidity.
State Nodal Officer (NRHM) Dr. D. Padung made a Power Point presentation on the status of MDR in Arunachal Pradesh and it reflected all the recorded causes of maternal deaths that occurred in the state during the year. The importance of MDR lies in the fact that it provides detailed information on various factors at facility, district, community, regional and national level that are needed to be addressed to reduce maternal deaths. Analysis of these deaths can identify the delays that contribute to maternal deaths at various levels and the information used to adopt measures to fill the gaps in service, he said.
It was observed that most of the cases of Maternal Deaths were due to lack of timely health seeking behavior of the pregnant women for which, the Secretary (H&FW) Sudhir Kumar, stressed on strengthening IEC activities at village levels making use of the ASHAs and AWWs. The meeting was attended by DHS, Member Secretary (State Commission for Women), Addl. DHS, Jt.DHS (FW), CMS (ASH), Sr. Gynaecologist ASH, DD (FW), SPO (M&E) and others.

Sandeep Kr Singh, Assistant Commissioner informed that the Career Counseling Centre is being initiated to give counseling to the students about various career options one may get after passing out from Class X, XII and Graduation. He also informed that from time to time resource persons like IAS, IPS officers and persons from various institutes like RIWATCH shall be invited to give counseling to the students. Apart from Career Counselling, a small library has been opened in one of the room in the building where students can come and read newspapers, megazines and other study materials. Two rooms will be used as a SSA Training Centre in which Girls child under elementary level will be given life skill training like Computer Training and Tailoring, he added.

District level tournament for CM trophy gets underway
AALO, Jan 28: Altogether 14 men and women Football and Volleyball teams representing 7 Assembly constituencies of West Siang district are in the fray for District Level Chief Minister’s Football and Volleyball competition which gets underway at General Football ground at Aalo today.
Addressing the inaugural function Yaman Bagra, Chairperson West Siang Zilla Parishad exhorted the participants to take part in the ensuing tournament with the spirit that governs games and sports. The main motive behind conducting the tournament is to spot talents among the local youth under the state’s flagship programme of the Chief Minister. Boys and Girls should take keen part in it to excel in sports arena. The govt. has also enhanced the sports quota of 10 per cent to talented sportsmen and women of the state and they should make best use of the opportunity that come in their way.

Learn from the mistake
Dear editor,
Through your esteemed column I would like to share a few words about APPSC. Year
after year whenever any examination is conducted, there are complains, court cases
etc. Hardly any exam has been conducted without complaints and court cases. The present
case of 97 candidates whose APPSCE preliminary test result is still pending is a
classic example. For the other candidates who have already qualified, it is a great
boon in disguise because they are getting enough time for preparation and enjoyment
of New Year, just because of the delay and pending case of the 97 candidate. Thank
you guys for delaying the mains exam. Coming to my point dear Sir, Madam, Secretary,
Chairman and Members, haven’t you learn anything till yet. Your past mistakes are
repeated again and again. Don’t you people have any decision of your own? Those 97
candidates were rejected even for the preliminary test, then how come you allow them
to appear in the examination? Better term it as joke of the year. Is it because of
the court interference? If yes, then is it the court who is conducting this APPSCCE?
You have your own sets of rules and regulations, discretionary power and Autonomous.
You people have made APPSC as ARUNACHAL PRAD-

Wrong allegation without any facts
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to clarify the statement of one Teresa regarding the dismantling of bathrooms, toilets and illegal capture of Govt. quarters published in today’s edition of your daily.
Being the ‘Councilor’ of the ward no. 3 under which Police Colony falls, I have not found any illegal capture of Govt. quarter till date. I agree that a couple of weeks ago, dismantling of some toilets (made of bamboos) happened but later under the supervision of my ward member, it was modified keeping in view the interest of residents. Some land occupied by few police personnel at the rejected area in Police Colony is still under allotment process and the case is at the court. The court shall decide as per the provision of law.
And for boundary wall, I can give assurance that the work shall be started soon.
Also, I've personally tried to hear the sentiment/complaint of this so called Teresa, but when surveyed in whole police colony area, no person of such name existed.
It is totally a baseless allegation made to defame my name in general and the name of the DGP of APP as a whole. Hence, it is a sincere request to all the intellectuals not to believe in such allegations by any anonymous person in future.

Student union no longer represents real students
Dear editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to highlight some of my views regarding student union. The student unions were initiated concerning the welfare of people and society by some wise personality and I appreciate those leaders. But nowadays I can’t see any student union taking strong initiative regarding welfare of society and people until and unless there is a private profit like funds , charities or in kind etc.
History has told us that 80% of student union leaders in Arunachal Pradesh later joins politics after completion of tenure and generally becomes very corrupt barring some exceptions. It seems like student union has become diploma degree for student leader to join politics. Therefore in order to attain this degree he/she spends lakhs of money just for campaigning and now state is being flooded with student unions which is corrupting the state. Now student union no longer stands for students, the word student is just a verbal thing because 80% of the student union leaders are infact not regular students. It has become the fastest and easiest way to become rich and attain glamour, it is now completely a commercial place for people who wish to get rich easily without efforts. Let me tell that you won’t find any student union leader in Arunachal Pradesh who is poor. All the present leaders are enjoying their life and each and every one of them is far richer than he/she was before being a student union leader. So, here is my questions why are we still supporting them? Are we that much cheap that anyone can pursue us to vote for him/her so easily when we already know the truth about the candidates? And don’t you think there must be a right to reject in the student union election too. Please no offense to those who are not corrupt and are doing their job honestly.

Mumbai police detained at least 25 MNS activists who tried to flee after vandalizing the toll booth. The attacks on toll booths run by the government or authorized private agencies were launched on Sunday night in at least eight cities across the state. Over the past two days, more than 70 political activists have been taken into custody even as Maharasthra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and home minister R R Patil appealed against violence and targeting of toll booths.
The latest attack came after a speech by MNS president Raj Thackeray, who called upon people to refuse to pay toll and oppose any force by toll collectors and not bother about traffic jams resulting from their protests. Such open gundagiri by Raj Thackrey does not augur well for the country. The most surprising aspect is that Maharasthra Govt. has not yet taken any strong action against him. The weakness of govt. is giving fuel to gundagiri of MNS workers. It’s time for some tough action.
